Custom Sauna Cost Estimate for Indiana

Planning a custom indoor sauna in Central Indiana? The Sauna Craft estimator below gives you a ballpark before the first phone call. Enter the interior width, depth, and ceiling height of your room, then choose the wood, the heater, the door and floor, the lighting, and any accessories. The running total updates as you go, so you can see how each choice moves the number.

All of our materials come from selfcaresaunas.com, and the estimator prices them 5% below its list price. Material prices can change with the mill run and freight. Labor is shown as a ballpark based on the length of wall in your room. When you are done, send the ticket to Jason. Jason Guilliam reviews every quote himself and confirms labor after he has looked at your space, so treat the total as a starting point, not a final price.

The estimator is built for indoor rooms like the ones on our home saunas page. Planning an outdoor sauna, a wood-burning sauna, or a commercial room? Call or text Jason and he will price it with you. Sauna Craft builds from our shop at 15697 Lin Rd in Fortville and serves Fortville, Fishers, Indianapolis, and the rest of Central Indiana.

What drives the cost of a custom sauna?

What affects the cost of a custom sauna the most?

Room size is the biggest driver. A larger room needs more framing, insulation, vapor barrier, and interior wood, more bench length, and a more powerful heater to bring the extra volume up to temperature. It also takes more hours to build. Ceiling height matters too, because the heater is sized to the cubic footage of the room, not just the floor area.

Does the type of heater change the price?

Yes. Electric sauna heaters are sized in kilowatts to the room, and a bigger room needs a bigger heater. Controls, stone capacity, and the brand also change the cost. A wood-burning stove adds a chimney kit and the clearances that come with a real fire. Sauna Craft builds wood-burning saunas as outdoor standalone rooms or trailer saunas, not indoors.

Can I get Wi-Fi controls for my sauna heater?

Yes. Sauna Craft offers Wi-Fi sauna controls, so you can start or preheat the sauna, set a schedule, and adjust the temperature or timer from your phone. A recent residential estimate, for example, used the Harvia KIP 8 kW with Wi-Fi as an app-controlled sauna heater. Other heater options are available, and Jason will go over the choices when he reviews your quote.

How much does the wood species matter?

The interior wood is one of the largest material costs in the room. We build with heat-ready woods such as cedar, hemlock, and Nordic spruce, and the species, the grade, and the profile of the boards all change the price. The estimator lets you switch woods and see the difference before you decide.

Is an outdoor sauna more expensive than an indoor one?

An outdoor sauna is a small building. On top of the heat room it needs a base that keeps the wood off standing water, a roof that sheds snow, exterior siding, weatherproofing, and a power run from the house. An indoor room can often use existing walls, floor, and nearby power, so it usually involves less construction. Jason prices outdoor builds after he sees the site.

Do I need electrical work for a sauna?

Traditional and infrared saunas need a dedicated electrical circuit, and steam rooms also need plumbing. Your panel capacity and the distance from the panel to the sauna both affect the cost of that work. We provide the heater and circuit specifications during the quote so the electrical work is planned before the build starts.
