Commercial Sauna Builder in Louisville, KY
Sauna Craft builds commercial saunas for Louisville gyms, hotels, spas, physical therapy and chiropractic clinics, and athletic programs, plus the Southern Indiana side of the river in Jeffersonville, Clarksville, and New Albany. We work from our shop at 15697 Lin Rd in Fortville, Indiana, about 2 hours 15 minutes north of downtown Louisville without traffic. In the Louisville market we take commercial projects only. Call or text Jason Guilliam at 317-626-5669.

Louisville facilities we build for
- Downtown and NuLu hotels adding a spa or fitness amenity, or renovating an old heat room
- Independent and franchise gyms in the East End, St. Matthews, and Middletown that want recovery on the membership sheet
- Physical therapy, chiropractic, and sports medicine practices pairing heat with a cold plunge
- Day spas, med spas, and recovery studios
- University, high school, and club athletic programs that need a room big enough for a team
- Southern Indiana gyms and clinics in Jeffersonville, Clarksville, and New Albany
Louisville is a hospitality city, and hotel work has its own constraints: the room usually sits next to a pool or locker area that has to stay open, finishes have to survive daily housekeeping, and the guest-facing look matters as much as the heat. We build for that from the first walk-through.
Getting to a Louisville job: travel, delivery, and build days
The drive from Fortville runs south on the interstate to the Ohio River. The I-65 bridges and the East End (Lewis and Clark) Bridge are tolled through RiverLink, and the I-64 Sherman Minton Bridge is not, so we plan crossings and deliveries with that in mind. Jeffersonville and New Albany sit on the Indiana side at about the same drive time as downtown.
Because the site is a couple of hours away, we front-load the planning. We confirm measurements, the electrical service, and access (loading dock, elevator size, door widths, and parking for a work vehicle) before materials leave the shop. Components are planned at our Fortville shop, and the build happens on site during one agreed window. Most custom saunas take one to two weeks from the agreed start date, depending on the room’s size and complexity.
How we work with Louisville general contractors and architects
On a hotel renovation or a clinic build-out we come in as the sauna trade under the general contractor of record, who handles the permit and inspections with the local building authority under the Kentucky Building Code. For the submittal package we provide:
- Finished room dimensions and ceiling height (we size the heater to the room’s cubic footage, not its floor area)
- The heater model, its electrical requirements, and the dedicated circuit your electrician will run
- Heater clearances and the ventilation plan for the room
- Locations for the heater, controls, and lighting
- Plumbing needs for the steam generator, if the room is a steam room
- Heater and room details for the fire protection contractor, so sprinkler heads near the sauna are rated for the heat
Accessibility is part of the plan from the start. Under section 612 of the 2010 ADA Standards, a public sauna needs at least one bench that meets section 903 (42 inches long minimum, 20 to 24 inches deep, 17 to 19 inches high, with back support), a door that doesn’t swing into that bench’s clear floor space, and a turning space inside the room. In a hotel renovation that often decides where the door goes. We build to the layout your architect has approved, and the architect and code official make the final call.
Trailer saunas and wood-burning options
A trailer sauna can work for a Louisville business that wants heat at events, a riverfront venue, or a team that travels. We build trailer saunas at our Fortville shop: you supply the trailer and bring it up to us, and we build the sauna on it. We don’t travel for trailer builds. Our horse trailer conversion runs on a Harvia Cilindro 16 wood-burning stove, and a trailer can also take a propane or electric heater. Wood-burning saunas are outdoor or trailer builds only, never indoors, so a hotel or gym interior gets electric heat. See mobile and trailer saunas and wood-burning saunas.
Commercial work you can see
We don’t have a Louisville project to show yet, and we won’t pretend otherwise. What we can show is the same kind of room built in Indiana: the hybrid sauna at the Colts practice facility, sized for 8 to 10 linemen at once; the 10 by 10 ft cedar room at YMCA Kokomo; and the gym sauna at Indy City Barbell in downtown Indianapolis, built around gym hours so members could keep training.
