YMCA – Kokomo
Added value for the members of the YMCA in Kokomo was at the heart of this project.
This 10×10 ft sauna blended nicely into the existing space and provided a nice perk for Y members. Read more about our commercial saunas in Indiana.
The Grade A Western Red Cedar creates an attractive feature in what was a generally empty space before.
Planning a sauna for a gym or Y
A commercial sauna runs on a schedule, and members use it every day. That changes the build. Benches have to handle heavy traffic, the heater has to be sized to the room so it holds temperature as groups come and go, and the finish has to be easy to clean. We also plan the ventilation, the electrical service for the heater, and where the room sits in the facility so it fits the existing space instead of fighting it.
Commercial saunas need daily cleaning, regular heater inspections, and periodic deep cleaning, and we give each facility maintenance recommendations for its room.
Fitting a sauna into an existing space
Many facilities have a corner or room that is not doing much, like the space this sauna now fills. Turning it into a heat room means checking the floor, the nearby walls, the ventilation, and the route for the electrical service before the build starts, so the finished room looks like it was always part of the building.
