Commercial Sauna Builder in Cincinnati, OH
Sauna Craft builds commercial saunas for Cincinnati gyms, hotels, spas, clinics, and athletic programs, on both sides of the Ohio River: Cincinnati and its Ohio suburbs, and Northern Kentucky. Our shop is at 15697 Lin Rd in Fortville, Indiana. Downtown Cincinnati is about 2 hours 5 minutes away without traffic, and Covington, Florence, and Mason run about 2 hours 15 minutes. In this market we take commercial projects only. Call or text Jason Guilliam at 317-626-5669.

Cincinnati facilities we build for
- Boutique gyms, strength gyms, and studios in Over-the-Rhine, downtown, and Oakley
- Suburban clubs and family fitness centers in Mason, West Chester, and Blue Ash
- Physical therapy, chiropractic, and sports medicine clinics adding contrast therapy
- Downtown and riverfront hotels on both the Ohio and Kentucky sides
- Spas, med spas, and recovery studios
- Athletic programs that need a room sized for a team rather than a household
- Northern Kentucky facilities in Covington, Newport, and Florence
Two states, one metro: code and permit notes
Cincinnati is a two-state market, and that matters for paperwork. Ohio jobs fall under the Ohio Building Code, enforced by the local building department. Northern Kentucky jobs fall under the Kentucky Building Code. The general contractor or architect of record handles the permit either way; our part is giving them the sauna information they need, in the format they need it, so the review doesn’t stall on the heat room.
That information is the same on both sides of the river: finished room dimensions and ceiling height, the heater model and its electrical requirements, heater clearances, the ventilation plan, and where the heater, controls, and lighting go. Your electrician runs the dedicated circuit to our spec, a plumber handles the steam generator on a steam room, and the fire protection contractor gets the heater details so heads near the sauna are rated for the heat.
ADA layout
Section 612 of the 2010 ADA Standards applies to saunas and steam rooms in public and commercial facilities. Plan on at least one bench that meets section 903, a 60-inch turning space (or a T-shaped space) inside the room, and a door that doesn’t swing into the bench’s clear floor space. If a club has several saunas together, only 5 percent of each type, but at least one, must comply. We lay out the room around that and the architect’s approved plans.
Travel and build logistics from Fortville
Cincinnati is the closest of our out-of-state commercial markets. The drive runs southeast along the I-74 corridor, which keeps a site visit and a build start within the same working day. Before we load anything we confirm access to the room: dock or door widths, elevator size in a downtown building, and where a work vehicle can park. We plan the components at our Fortville shop and build on site during an agreed window. Most custom saunas take one to two weeks from the agreed start date, and we schedule around a facility’s hours, the way we did at Indy City Barbell so the gym could stay open.
Trailer and outdoor wood-burning saunas
For a Cincinnati recovery business that wants to take heat to events, or a venue with outdoor space, a trailer or outdoor room is an option. Trailer saunas are built at our Fortville shop. You supply the trailer and bring it to us; we build the sauna on it. Heat can be a Harvia Cilindro 16 wood-burning stove (what our horse trailer conversion uses), or a propane or electric heater. We build wood-burning saunas only as outdoor standalone rooms or trailers, not indoors. More on trailer saunas and wood-burning saunas.
Proof from our commercial builds
Every commercial project we show is real and named: the hybrid team sauna at the Colts practice facility, the 10 by 10 ft Western Red Cedar room at YMCA Kokomo (seating for 10 to 12 people), and Indy City Barbell, a downtown Indianapolis gym sauna with a commercial-duty Harvia heater and under-bench LEDs. All three are in Indiana; we don’t have a Cincinnati project to show yet.
Cincinnati commercial sauna FAQ
Do you serve Northern Kentucky as well as Cincinnati?
Yes, for commercial projects. Covington, Newport, and Florence are part of the same trip, and the general contractor of record handles the Kentucky permit while we supply the sauna information.
Do you take residential projects in Cincinnati?
No. In the Cincinnati market we build commercial saunas only. Home saunas are limited to the area within about two hours of our Fortville shop.
What do you provide for our architect’s submittal package?
Finished room dimensions and ceiling height, the heater model and electrical requirements, heater clearances, the ventilation plan, and locations for the heater, controls, and lighting.
Can you build while our club or hotel stays open?
Yes. We schedule the work around your hours. At Indy City Barbell we built around gym hours so members could keep training.
Electric or wood heat for a Cincinnati facility?
Indoor rooms get electric heat. Wood-burning stoves are only for outdoor standalone rooms and trailer saunas.

Call or text Jason at 317-626-5669 or email saunacraftco@gmail.com. Send photos of the space, rough dimensions and ceiling height, the type of heat you want, the site address, and where the sauna falls in your schedule. You can also use the contact form. If you want a rough idea of what a room’s size, wood and heater choices add up to before you call, try the sauna cost estimate tool, then call us to turn it into a commercial scope for your Cincinnati facility.
Other commercial markets we cover: Louisville, Columbus, Ohio, Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana, South Bend and Michiana, Champaign-Urbana. All of them run from our Fortville shop; see the regional commercial sauna builder page for the full list and drive times.
