Sauna Subcontractor for Contractors and Home Builders in Indiana
General contractors, home builders, and remodelers bring Sauna Craft in as the sauna trade on new homes, remodels, and commercial build-outs. Jason Guilliam and the Sauna Craft crew spec the room, give your team the rough-in details, and build the sauna on site from our shop at 15697 Lin Rd in Fortville. The heat room becomes one clear scope in your schedule, not a puzzle for your crew. Call or text Jason at 317-626-5669.

Who we work with
- General contractors running commercial build-outs for gyms, wellness centers, hotels, and clubs
- Custom home builders adding a sauna to a new home
- Remodelers and design-build firms finishing basements, bathrooms, and garage conversions
- Other sauna builders who want a second set of eyes on a project (consulting)
What we handle, and what your trades handle
We build the sauna itself. That means the room layout, heater sizing, framing and insulation inside the heat room, vapor control, the interior wood, benches, glass door, lighting, and controls. It also covers heater setup, the first heat-up, and a walk-through for you and your client.
Your team keeps the work that belongs to the building. Your electrician runs the dedicated circuit for the heater to our spec, a plumber handles the steam generator on steam rooms, and the general contractor of record handles permits and inspections. We provide the heater specs and clearances and coordinate the build, which keeps permitting simple.
Rough-in specs and electrical and vent coordination
Before walls close, we give your team what it needs to rough in once:
- Finished room dimensions and ceiling height
- The heater model and its electrical requirements, including the dedicated circuit
- Where the heater, controls, and lighting go
- Heater clearances and the ventilation plan for the room
- Plumbing needs for the steam generator on steam rooms
We size the heater to the cubic footage of the finished room, not the floor area. That is why we confirm the ceiling height and the room size with you early.
Built around your schedule
Tell us where the sauna falls in your build schedule, and we plan our work around it. We plan the components and details at our Fortville shop, then build at your site during an agreed window. Most custom saunas take one to two weeks from the agreed start date, depending on the room’s size and complexity. On commercial jobs we schedule around the facility’s calendar. At Indy City Barbell we built around gym hours so the gym could stay open.
On site with your crew
Once we are on site, we coordinate with your site lead, keep to our own scope, and leave the room ready for first heat-up. You get one point of contact, Jason, from the first measurement to the final walk-through. You don’t have to manage separate trades for the framing, heater, and finish of the sauna.
New homes, remodels, and commercial projects
- New homes: basement saunas, primary-bath heat rooms, dedicated wellness rooms, and outdoor saunas. See home saunas.
- Remodels: basement and bathroom saunas, steam rooms in bathroom remodels, garage conversions, and heater replacements in existing rooms.
- Commercial: gyms, hotels, clubs, and wellness center saunas. Our commercial work includes the Colts practice facility, YMCA Kokomo, and Indy City Barbell. See commercial saunas.
We build traditional Finnish saunas with electric heaters, as well as infrared rooms, hybrid rooms, and steam rooms. Wood-burning stoves are only for outdoor rooms and trailers; see wood-burning saunas.
Contractor and builder FAQ
Do you work as a sauna subcontractor for general contractors?
Yes. On a job with a general contractor, we work as the sauna trade. You get a clear written scope, the heater specs, and the clearances your team needs.
What do you need from us to quote the sauna?
Send the plans or photos of the space, the room dimensions and ceiling height, the type of heat your client wants, where the sauna falls in your schedule, and the project location.
Who pulls permits and runs the electrical?
The electrical work is usually done by your electrician, and permits are handled by the general contractor of record. We provide the heater specs, clearances, and coordination so the rough-in and inspections go smoothly.
How long does the sauna take once you are on site?
Most custom saunas take one to two weeks from the agreed start date, depending on the size and complexity of the room.
Where do you work?
Residential projects are in Central Indiana, including Indianapolis, Fishers, Carmel, Noblesville, Westfield, Zionsville, Greenwood, and Fortville. Commercial projects cover a wider travel radius from our Fortville shop.
Can homeowners hire you directly too?
Yes. Most of our work is direct with homeowners. See our sauna contractors page and home saunas page for residential projects.
Homeowners hiring directly can start with sauna contractors in Central Indiana or the sauna cost estimate tool.
