Colts Practice Facility

This was a cool project, building a hybrid sauna at the Colts practice facility. The team needed a space big enough for multiple large men to recover muscles after long workouts. This unit included traditional Finnish heating with an infrared source. See more of our commercial sauna builds in Indiana.
How a hybrid sauna works
A traditional sauna heats the air with a heater and stones, while infrared panels warm the body directly at lower temperatures. A hybrid room puts both in one space, so users can run a hotter traditional session or a gentler infrared one. For a team, that flexibility lets different athletes use the room the way that suits their recovery.
Sizing a room for athletes
Big bodies need wide, sturdy benches and room to sit without crowding. This room was sized for 8 to 10 linemen or 10 to 12 cornerbacks at once. A bigger room also needs more heater capacity to bring the extra volume up to temperature, so we size the heat to the cubic footage rather than the floor area.
Team rooms also see constant use, so we plan for durable benches, surfaces that are easy to clean, and controls that staff can run day to day. Commercial saunas need daily cleaning, regular heater inspections, and periodic deep cleaning, and every commercial build ends with a walk-through of the heater and controls.
