Sauna Craft built this commercial sauna for Indy City Barbell, a downtown Indianapolis gym.
The constraint
Downtown Indianapolis gym needed a durable commercial sauna members can use after training—reliable heat, easy upkeep, and a finish that fits a serious training space.
The plan
We scoped the room, chose a commercial-duty Harvia heater, planned benches and under-bench LED lighting, and coordinated the build around gym hours. Learn more about our process and see the Colts practice facility project.
The build
Sauna Craft built a custom cedar interior with a Harvia heater set for gym traffic, under-bench LEDs, and Sauna Craft plaque finish details. See another commercial build in the YMCA Kokomo project.

What a gym sauna has to handle
A gym sauna gets used hard. Members come in straight from training, often several at a time, so the heater has to be sized to the room and hold temperature as people come and go. Benches need to be sturdy and comfortable, lighting has to be easy on the eyes, and every surface has to stand up to daily cleaning. Under-bench LEDs, like the ones in this room, light the space without glare at eye level.
Building inside a working gym
A downtown gym cannot shut down for a sauna build. We coordinated the work around gym hours so members could keep training while the room took shape, then finished with a walk-through of the controls so staff know how to run it.
