Commercial Sauna Builder for South Bend, Elkhart, and Warsaw
Sauna Craft builds commercial saunas for gyms, clinics, hotels, and athletic programs across north central Indiana: South Bend, Mishawaka, Elkhart, Goshen, and Warsaw. We work from our shop at 15697 Lin Rd in Fortville, Indiana. Without traffic, Warsaw is about 2 hours 15 minutes north of us, Goshen about 2 hours 40 minutes, South Bend and Mishawaka about 2 hours 40 minutes, and Elkhart about 2 hours 50 minutes. Because these cities are more than two hours out, we take commercial projects only here. Call or text Jason Guilliam at 317-626-5669.

Who we build for in Michiana and Kosciusko County
- Gyms, health clubs, and YMCA-style community fitness centers in South Bend, Mishawaka, and Granger
- Physical therapy, chiropractic, and orthopedic rehab clinics; Warsaw is known as the Orthopedic Capital of the World, and recovery is part of that business
- Employee wellness rooms for manufacturers in the Elkhart and Goshen area
- Hotels near the downtowns, the university campuses, and the Indiana Toll Road
- College, high school, and club athletic programs that need a team-sized room
- Lake-area resorts, campgrounds, and event venues around Warsaw and Syracuse that want an outdoor wood-burning sauna
Getting there and building at a distance
The trip is a straight shot north on US 31 through Kokomo, which is also where our YMCA project is, and Warsaw sits about two hours up the road on State Road 13. Because these are all Indiana sites, one set of state rules applies to every project in this market, which simplifies planning. We still treat it as a distance job: photos, dimensions, and drawings first; the heater, wood, benches, and electrical settled before the build window; components planned at our Fortville shop; then one on-site build window. Most custom saunas take one to two weeks from the agreed start date, depending on the room’s size and complexity.
Indiana code, permits, and your project team
Commercial saunas in Indiana are built under the Indiana Building Code. A Class 1 commercial structure also needs a state design release from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security before construction, and your architect or engineer usually files that. The general contractor of record pulls local permits with the city or county. We fit in as the sauna trade under them and provide:
- Finished room dimensions and ceiling height
- The heater model and its electrical requirements, so your electrician can run the dedicated circuit
- Heater clearances, and heater details for the fire protection contractor’s sprinkler head selection
- The ventilation plan for the room
- Locations of the heater, controls, and lighting
For accessibility we follow section 612 of the 2010 ADA Standards: at least one bench meeting section 903 (42 inches long minimum, 20 to 24 inches deep, a seat 17 to 19 inches high, with back support), a turning space inside the room under section 304, and a door that doesn’t swing into the bench’s clear floor space. Your architect and the code official have the final say on compliance.
Outdoor, trailer, and wood-burning options
Wood-burning saunas suit the lake country around Warsaw, but we build them only as outdoor standalone rooms or trailer saunas, never indoors. For a trailer, you supply the trailer and bring it to our Fortville shop, and we build the sauna on it; we don’t travel for trailer builds. Our horse trailer conversion uses a Harvia Cilindro 16 wood-burning stove (16 kW, glass door, up to 264 lb of stones), and a trailer can also take a propane or electric heater. See mobile and trailer saunas, wood-burning saunas, and outdoor saunas.
The nearest proof is on your route
YMCA Kokomo is on US 31 between our shop and South Bend: a 10 by 10 ft Grade A Western Red Cedar room that seats 10 to 12 people and turned an empty corner into a member amenity. We also built the hybrid team sauna at the Colts practice facility and the gym sauna at Indy City Barbell in downtown Indianapolis. We don’t have a South Bend project to show yet.
