Kokomo is home to one of our best-known commercial rooms. At the YMCA in Kokomo we built a 10 by 10 ft sauna in Grade A Western Red Cedar that seats 10 to 12 people and turned an empty corner into a member amenity. Home saunas for Kokomo houses
Every home sauna starts with where it will live. The spots we build most often:
- A basement room, usually the easiest indoor location; our 6 x 4.5 ft basement sauna seats 5 or 6
- A corner build that uses two existing walls, like the 4–5 person cedar sauna
- A framed room on a garage slab when the basement is taken, as in our garage sauna
- An outdoor sauna shed in the yard, with its own base, roof, insulation, and a power run from the house
- A heater replacement or refresh for an existing room that is still sound
We size the heater to the room’s cubic footage, ceiling height included, build with heat-ready woods (cedar, hemlock, or Nordic spruce), and plan the dedicated electrical circuit and ventilation before anything is framed. Traditional Finnish, infrared, hybrid, and steam rooms are all options.
How a Kokomo job runs from Fortville
At about 75 minutes each way, Kokomo is close enough for a normal site visit. We come up to measure, talk through how you will use the room, and confirm the heater and electrical. Then we schedule the build. Most custom saunas take one to two weeks from the agreed start date, depending on the room’s size and complexity, and every job ends with a walk-through of the heater and controls.
Commercial saunas in Kokomo and Howard County
Beyond the YMCA, we build for gyms, physical therapy and chiropractic clinics, studios, and hotels. On a commercial build-out we work under the general contractor of record, who pulls the permit. Outdoor and wood-burning options
For an acreage outside town, a wood-burning sauna built around the Harvia Cilindro 16 is an option, as an outdoor standalone room only, never inside the house. If you want a sauna you can tow, we build trailer saunas at our Fortville shop on a trailer you bring us.
